About the Workshop by Jaidyn V. and Cristian M.
This workshop was entertaining, fun, spirited, and energetic. It made me a better writer without totally boring me to death.
Every day started with computer time.
The first thing we did on the computers was go on Animoto. The computers were a little confusing at first, but with the help of Ms. Beltran, we were able to make a video about ourselves using pictures and words.
The second thing we did is go on StoryBird. StoryBird is a computer website where you get to create your own story! Storybird was funny, because we grabbed a set of drawings and wrote a story with the pictures.
But it was not all just fun and games. We used PBworks to take all the things we wrote on paper and transfer the writing onto the computer. Teachers talked to us about how to improve our writing, and we had to type, and type, and type, all over our stories.
We actually did art projects here! When the clock struck ten we switched over into the writing and visual arts room (AKA the Writing Room). The activities there gave us a ton of ideas.
The first thing we did was draw maps of our hearts, which consisted of making a heart and drawing things you love.
Then we wrote a poem about our favorite animal. After that we made up warped animals, where we grabbed three animals and morphed them together then wrote an article about it. My animal was a Phinogzord, it's a dolphin, dog, and a lizard.
I had fun at this program. It was really was really cool! This program definitely made me the best possible writer. I hope whoever didn't come here this year comes next year!
